AI engineering firm Solvd has joined the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) as a Silver Member, the Linux Foundation announced on May 18 at its Open Source Summit in Minneapolis.

Solvd is among 43 new members added in the past quarter, bringing AAIF’s total membership to 190 organizations spanning financial services, government, academia, and enterprise technology.

Launched in December 2025 with Anthropic, AWS, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI among its founding members, AAIF is the neutral body developing the open standards and protocols that govern how AI agents connect, communicate, and operate across enterprise environments.

Its flagship project is Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) – the open standard for how AI agents connect to external tools and data sources – alongside OpenAI’s AGENTS.md, a convention for giving agents project-specific context across repositories.

As a member, Solvd’s engineering leaders will contribute hands-on implementation expertise to AAIF working groups with a particular focus on MCP, AGENTS.md, and open-source agent tooling. The company will also participate in two major AAIF industry events: the MCP Dev Summit Europe in Amsterdam on September 17–18 and AGNTCon + MCPCon in San Jose on October 22–23.

The membership reflects growing enterprise urgency around AI agent standards. MCP has crossed 110 million monthly downloads since its November 2024 launch, and AGENTS.md has been adopted by more than 60,000 open-source projects in under a year.

Meanwhile, Gartner forecasts that 40% of enterprise applications will embed task-specific AI agents by the end of 2026 – up from less than 5% a year earlier – making interoperability standards increasingly critical infrastructure rather than a nice-to-have.

Solvd brings to AAIF a combination of production experience and academic depth that is central to effective standards development. The company’s 700+ engineers serve more than 100 enterprise clients across technology, fintech, e-commerce, hospitality, and banking, and its research credentials include over 100 published papers, 15+ PhDs, contributions at NeurIPS, ICML, and CVPR, and a NeurIPS 2025 Best Paper Award winner on staff.

Solvd was built through the acquisitions of EastBanc Technologies and Tooploox.

“We are excited to offer our experiences and research to this important effort to ensure robust and safe AI solutions are deployed,” said Solvd CEO Mike Hulbert.

“The standards we set now will define what’s possible for years to come. We’re joining AAIF to help build that foundation alongside the industry’s leaders,” Solvd CTO Skylar Roebuck added.

Jim Zemlin, executive director of the Linux Foundation, has said that MCP and AGENTS.md have become “essential tools for developers building this new class of agentic technologies” and that AAIF ensures they “can grow with the transparency and stability that only open governance provides.”
