5 Web Design Tips for Your Website to be Search Engine Friendly

Nowadays, many people design their own websites for many reasons. For some, their websites are their source of income and for some it is their passion. But no website design can be considered to be successful without getting any traffic and in getting traffic to a website search engines play a major role. If you want search engines to know that your site exists and send traffic to your site, your site should be properly optimized. Here are some simple tips that can help you in doing the same.

1) Add Text to your images, Flash and video contents:

Images and other media contents are important parts of a webpage design as they make it look attractive but they are of no use for the search engine bots. Search engine bots are the ones that crawl your website and help in getting traffic. But these bots understand only the text and programming languages. So, you must add alt texts or captions to your media contents so that the search engines can know about your content.

2) Remove hidden text:

Sometimes by mistake or intentionally people leave hidden texts on their websites but this thing only helps in decreasing the quality of a website. The text may remain hidden from the website users but it can’t hide from the web crawlers and if the crawlers find such hidden texts, they directly decrease the rating of your website in the records and thus decreasing your website’s search engine friendliness. If you find it difficult to do this then you can take help of professionals like Sydney Web Designer and increase your website’s quality.

3) Make sitemaps:

Sitemaps are the pages on your website that contain links to almost every other page and content that is present on your website. You must create a sitemap for the search engines as this helps the search engines to know about your website easily. Most of the search engines prefer to crawl the sitemaps first for the links to the content of your site and good sitemaps make sure that all of the content on your site has been crawled by the search engine bots.

4) Stick to a theme:

You must make sure that the content on your design is related to a single theme only. It’s not a good practice to put contents related to different fields on a single website as search engines prefer the websites that stick to a single theme. For example, if you have a website that is related to science and technology, then adding fashion related content won’t help you.

5) Decrease Bounce Rate:

Search engines love websites with low bounce rates. Bounce rates are the stats of your website which tell about the percentage of visitors that exit your website just after opening it. To decrease your bounce rates, you must make sure that you increase the user experience of your website and for this you must provide quality content to the website users. You must also take care of the level of easiness with which users can interact with your website. These minor things matter a lot if you want to increase your website’s search engine friendliness.
