Startup Saturday Mumbai – Infibeam Co-founder Sachin Oswal Steals the Show

This last Saturday was probably one of the best sessions at Startup Saturday Mumbai. Why so? Well, Sachin Oswal, co-founder of the popular e-commerce store Infibeam, stole the show with his engaging talk on logistics and supply chain management. I am sure every single person in the room found the talk not only engaging but very useful.

To give you readers an insight to the talk, Sachin spoke about issues with payments and how very few pincodes are actually served in India. It is obvious that there is a huge potential to tap in the payments industry especially in the Tier-2, Tier-3 and rural areas. He also gave an overview of the best courier services in India and how start-ups should define their logistics and supply so as to make the best use of the services available.[pullquote align=”right”]If you want to be successful, you need to know how to manage inventory.[/pullquote]

One of the most important things discussed was the major pain point with e-commerce companies today – inventory. There was a good discussion on how inventory needs to be managed. One learning – Inventory if not managed well can be the cause of your death. If you want to be successful, you need to know how to manage inventory. This can make or break an e-commerce company. Since we were talking about pain points, it is needless to say that COD was also a topic of discussion. One suggestion to people who are trying to do something radical – tackle the COD menace!

Apart from Sachin, Amit Jain of TechnoPurple also gave an insightful talk on the technology aspects of logistics and how technology can be leveraged to provide better services. We’ll bring you more details on that exclusively on TheTechPanda.com.

To add to all that, Sreeraman T, Comunity Manager for Google Business Group Mumbai spoke about how GBG works as a community for business professionals & entrepreneurs to share knowledge and connect with eachother. Thanks to him, a couple of case studies were also shared which drew more focus towards the real life issues with logistics and supply chain which real startups are facing.
