RIM ties up with Docomo, BlackBerry users to get free calls

Smartphone maker RIM has tied-up with Tata DoCoMo under which the operator will provide post-paid subscribers using BlackBerry 9320 phone 10 gigabit (GB) data and certain number of free calls.

“Tata DoCoMo monthly rental plan of Rs 599 offers 600 minutes of free local and national calling, free 600 local and national SMS and an unlimited BlackBerry Internet Services plan,” Tata Teleservices’ Head for non-voice services Sunil Tandon told PTI.

He added that the bundled services in the plan are worth Rs 1,080 on monthly basis which will enable customer to recover cost of their BlackBerry device in 15 months.

“To avail the facility, customer can buy BlackBerry 9320 from any store across India but this offer which has 10 GB data download limit will be available on GSM network of Tata DoCoMo,” Research In Motion India’s head of CDMA business Francis Jose said.

BlackBerry 9320 is available only in GSM models.

After exhausting limit of 600 minute calls facility, customers will be charged standard rate of 1 paisa per second applicable on Tata DoCoMo network, Jose said.
