India belongs to the third wave of countries to which the Apple iPhone 5, launched in the US on September 21, will be rolled out. It is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB memory capacities, in either black and slate or white and silver colours. In the run-up to the official launch scheduled in India on November 2, we bring you a compilation of websites that are taking pre-orders for Apple’s flagship smartphone.
Reliance Digital
Reliance Digital is probably the biggest retailer of tech products in India. You can pre-book the iPhone 5 by paying a booking amount of Rs 5000. This offer is valid for in limited locations that have a Reliance Digital store. You’ll be invited to the store to collect the device once it is available.
eBay India
eBay India lists close to 2,700 offers made by numerous sellers located across the country for the iPhone 5 in all the available memory capacities and colours. As with all eBay products, the prices, warranty, return policy, shipping and handling charges, and other terms of engagement are determined by the seller. Prices vary with the seller’s location, memory capacity of the handset and the locked or unlocked status of the phone. Every listing has one or more payment options depending on the choice of the seller. Payment can be made via PaisaPay, major credit and debit cards, cheque, online bank transfer or demand draft. It is imperative to check if the phone one intends to buy on eBay is not locked to a carrier that does not operate in India.
Rediff Shop and Gift
Like eBay, Rediff Shop and Gift lists out offers for the iPhone 5 made by various sellers located in India. Prices, delivery time and shipping charges vary with the capacity of the handset and the location of the seller. Payment options include credit card, debit card, cheque, demand draft, Internet banking, and also redemption of Rediff Gift certificates. The sellers currently offering the iPhone 5 have provided an option to make the payment via EMI for a period of three months.
Snapdeal
Retail website Snapdeal.com is taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5 with 16GB, 32GB, 64GB capacities in both the available colours. The listing states that no shipping charges are levied and delivery across India is done within 10 business days. Payment can be made via all major debit and credit cards and Internet banking. Snapdeal also offers the option of EMIs (Equated monthly instalments) for three months or six months for Citibank and HDFC credit card holders. The handset comes with a one-year warranty. The 16GB version is priced at Rs 45,500 for either colour. The 32GB version comes at a price tag of Rs 52,500, and the 64GB one is priced at Rs 59,500.
Tradus
Tradus.com has currently listed one seller offering the 16GB iPhone 5 in both colours, priced at Rs 44,900 excluding shipping. Payments can be made via Visa or Mastercard credit and debit cards, Internet banking and EMI for a period of three months available on HDFC credit cards. The dispatch time is four to six working days.
Saholic
Saholic.com has listed the iPhone 5 in black and slate as well as white and silver, in all three memory capacities. Shipping is free and the delivery time is up to nine business days. The prices are on par with those on Snapdeal — Rs 45,500 for 16 GB, Rs 52,500 for 32GB and Rs 59,500 for 64GB. The handset comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty.
Infibeam
Infibeam has listed the black and slate variant of the iPhone 5 for pre-order in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities at the same prices as Saholic and Snapdeal. The delivery time mentioned is five to seven days from the release date. Infibeam offers standard payment options and EMI for a period of three, six or nine months for HDFC and Citibank credit card holders.
ManiacStore
The iPhone 5 is listed in all memory capacities in the black and slate colour on ManiacStore. The prices of the handsets are the same as those on other retail websites mentioned earlier. The handsets come with a one-year manufacturer warranty and a six-month seller warranty. Also, a factory unlocked 16 GB version is listed at Rs 59,990. The payment options are net banking and EMI. Buyers can also redeem gift certificates to purchase it.
Mobile service operators Airtel and Aircel are offering carrier-locked versions of iPhone 5. Airtel is taking pre-orders for the 16GB model in black for Rs 45,500, whereas Aircel has put up a teaser page on its website, announcing “iPhone Now on Aircel”.
