NVIDIA will partner with NITI Aayog for its Global Mobility Hackathon MoveHack

National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), in partnership with several ministries and industry partners, is organizing ‘MOVE: Global Mobility Summit’ in New Delhi on 7th and 8th of September, 2018. American technology company NVIDIA will partner with the government think tank for its Global Mobility Hackathon, MoveHack.

The Global Mobility Hackathon will be an essential part of this event, lending the participants a platform where they can produce innovative ideas and solutions on issues regarding mobility. Mobility services include pedestrian, personal transport, public transit, and freight movement, which are integral to daily life in both rural and urban areas. The event is being conducted keeping in mind that shared, connected and clean mobility solutions for customized local needs are being approached by the ecosystem right now. These innovations are expected to transform the global transportation sector in the near future.


Niti Aayog Lays Out India’s AI Strategy


According to NITI Aayog’s latest announcement, the hackathon has received over 35,000 registrations from more than 25 countries, so far. NVIDIA would be the deep learning partner of MoveHack. As such, the company will supply participants with GPU and deep learning technologies, remote access to NVIDIA DGX systems, and purpose-built deep learning supercomputers.

Participants can avail the chance to receive mentoring from NVIDIA experts, like Mukundhan Srinivasan, Deep Learning Solutions Architect at NVIDIA; Bharatkumar Sharma, Senior Solutions Architect at NVIDIA; and super-mentor Simon See, Director of the NVIDIA Technology Center.

Two chosen winners from the participating teams in the deep learning category are to be awarded NVIDIA Titan V graphics cards to bolster their work in AI. “The growth of the Indian economy, along with rapid urbanization, makes innovations in mass mobility a matter of national importance. NVIDIA is partnering with NITI Aayog to help solve this grand challenge using AI and deep learning,” The ET quoted Vishal Dhupar, managing director, NVIDIA South Asia.

NITI Aayog’s summit will see mentors like IT giant Infosys Technologies Co-founder Nandan Nilekani; the fifth President of the National Association of Software & Services Companies (NASSCOM), Debjani Ghosh, former CFO of Infosys, Mohandas Pai; and Founder of the online travel company, MakeMyTrip Ltd.

NITI Aayog is the major policy think tank of the Government of India chaired by the Prime Minister of India. Founded on January 1, 2015, it possesses the mandate to provide both directional and policy inputs, while working with state governments.

The organization comprises of two hubs, the Team India Hub and the Knowledge and Innovation Hub. While the Team India Hub overlooks the collaboration between the states and the central government, the Knowledge and Innovation Hub works on the organization’s conceptual abilities.
