Myntra, India’s leading fashion portal has started experimenting with ultra-short product shipping times. According to the release sent to us, Myntra has successfully tested delivering products within one to two hours in select locations in Bangalore and Delhi.
This is an interesting announcement by Myntra and though it will be possible only for a small subset of customers and locations, they sure have gained bragging rights by these ultra-short delivery times.
Though, we have not found any of the products on Myntra showcasing the “hourly” delivery times, Myntra has already delivered it few customers for their products, and these customers were surely taken aback with product arriving at their door step in such short times.
While such deliveries may be possible for very small customers, it definitely shows that Myntra has a solid fulfillment and logistics in place. While the actual delivery time from the warehouse depends on the distance customer is located from Myntra’s warehouse, this pilot does show that their inventory and warehouse management is extremely efficient.
For a customer to be delivered in 1 hours, the entire process from receiving the order to getting the packaged product out of warehouse would have to be done in 30-40 minutes if not more (even if we assume that customer is just couple of blocks away from the warehouse).
Myntra released a video detailing the process that starts from the time an order is placed by a customer, continues with the product being picked and dispatched through a delivery boy who maneuvers through Bangalore’s bustling streets and finally ends right at the doorstep of a pleasantly surprised customers.
