Knowlarity To Expand Its Cloud Platform Internationally, Seeks Funding

Knowlarity Communications Pvt Ltd, a company that offers Cloud Telephony and associated services is considering international expansion and seeking funds for the endeavor.

Gurgaon, India based Knowlarity, backed by Sequoia Capital is actively trying to spread its wings to international regions and the fresh round of funding will help the company fulfill its dreams, shared Ambarish Gupta, Co–Founder Knowlarity,

We are in talks to raise a fresh round of funding, which will be used to expand our international presence in markets such as Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. A part of the funding will also go towards enhancing the technology which will help us take the business to the next level to become a global player,

Founded in 2009, Knowlarity is essentially a Cloud Based Communications platform provider who falls under the broad categories of Software as a Service (SaaS) as Infrastructure as a service (IaaS). It offers Mobile Based as well as Video Conferencing solutions that aim to offer an affordable multi–media communications solution to companies, while allowing to save substantially on infrastructural expenses.

Interestingly, Knowlarity has already managed to bag a few international clients notably in Singapore, where it was actively considering setting up dedicated offices. It recently acquired another company too. Observing the international expansion roadmap closely will reveal that Knowlarity has rightly chosen technologically conversant regions, who are held back by financial constraints that prevent the companies there to scale–up.

Knowlarity’s product range includes SuperFax, SuperReceptionist, SuperConference and SuperCaller. For larger enterprises, it provides hosted Interactive Voice Response (IVR) solutions integrated with its existing IT systems. Having secured Rs. 34 Crores (US$ 5.5 Million) from Sequoia in 2012, it has received financial backing from Emergic Venture Capital as well.

Looking at the product portfolio, it is very apparent that such products are direly needed for Indian Startups, but ironically, Ambarish Gupta’s justification for looking at foreign regions is due to a tough market in India. He might be referring to the Government’s Policy Decisions surrounding VoIP and other virtual communications tools. What do you think?
