Instagram launched as an iPhone app but soon after Facebook acquired it at a price of whooping $1 billion, it became famous and extended its domain to Android as well. While the photo upload feature was only limited to iPhone and Android users, people could view and rate other’s photos on some third-party website and not just on the phone itself.
I personally find browsing Instagram photos on websites comfortable. It’s easier to view photos, rate them and comment on it. Do you know what would be even more comfortable? A desktop application to do the same.
If you agree, let’s talk about an interesting application called Instagrille from the house of Pokki using which you can browse, view, rate and comment on Instagram photos right from your desktop.
To get started, download Instagrille from Pokki and run the installer on your computer. Please make sure that you care connected to the internet while installing the application as it downloads some file from the server. After the program is installed, it will create a new toolbar on your taskbar and pin the Instagrille there. Right click on the Instagrille icon and click on the Log in option to get started.
When Instagrille opens up, click on the option Login with Instagram and provide your Instagram login credentials.
After you login, you will be able to browse through all the photos just like you could do it on your iPhone or Android. You will not find the camera button but tabs like Feeds, Popular and Nearby will allow you to browse and explore easily.
You can also check your profile and all the photos you have liked in the past. The app also allows you to share a photo on your social stream and download them to your computer. You can also search for a photo using hash tags and follow new users you like.
One of the best things about the app is that it notifies about addition of new photos added by the users you follow by a count on the taskbar icon. This way, you can be aware of what’s going on Instagram even while working on some other task.
