{Gadget Launch: Smoke Stop Air Purifiers} Clean tech Startup Uses EGAPA to Trap CO2 Acidic Gases & Particulate Matter

Clean tech company AirOk, brainchild of a group of IIT Madras alumnus, has launched an all-new Smoke Stop Air Purifier as part of its Vistar air purifier series, which is powered by indigenously made patented technology of Efficient Granular Absorbent Particulate Arrester (EGAPA).

The EGAPA SmokeStop filter has a life span of 8-10 months and is designed to fit into AirOK Vistar 450i, 550i, 650i, 900i, 1100i, and 1300i air purifiers. The Vistar series by AirOK, which now comes in three vibrant colour options – metallic silver, black and white – claims to offer the only air purifiers in India that can reduce Carbon Dioxide levels in the air.

Along with CO2, HEPA plus Activated Carbon filter arrests several other acidic gases, Particulate Matter up to 0.1 microns, bacterial contamination, and fungal infections caused due to airborne particles ensuring a cleanly atmosphere in offices and homes.

The purifiers are available between the price range of INR 24,990/- to INR 1 lakh on all leading e-commerce portals and their website. The products will soon be available at various offline stores.

“The uniquely designed EGAPA SmokeStop, which is a part of our state-of-the-art Vistar series, makes the air flow into the filter at a 45-degree inclined position, thereby covering the maximum surface area of the filter. The fine fabric material traps pollutants in a manner that they do not get released back into the air even if the filter is heavily loaded,” AirOK Founder and CEO V. Deekshith Vara Prasad said in a statement.

The Science of Smoke Stop

The Smoke Stop air purifier is powered with a cylindrical shaped ultra-dense packed particulate filter with perfectly folded pleat that can capture PM 10, PM 2.5, PM 0.3. Furthermore, while the purifier can arrest pollen, pet dander, smoke, and other inhalable particles, it can also remove cigar or cigarette smoke, Formaldehyde, TVOCs, and other toxic gases.

The polypropylene filter comprises a network of interlaced fibers that are twisted and turned to form a fibrous maze. The filter is a combination of pre-filter made of PET and ultra-fine glass fiber material designed to the highest quality to let the filter remove bacteria and other microbial contaminants.

Larger particles that are too heavy to flow with the air get trapped on to the pre-filter and smaller particles that follow the air stream get caught in the filter fibers, if their diameter is larger than the gaps in the filter. These filters comprise a network of interlaced fibers, which are twisted and turned to form a fibrous maze.

The highest quality ultra-fine glass impregnated pleated fibrous media provides a superior surface area for size. The pleated media is designed to the highest quality that it can remove contaminants such as bacteria and other microbial contaminants.
