Facebook Gets New Look for News Feed

Facebook has announced  a new version of Facebook News Feed designed to reduce clutter and focus more on stories from the people you care about. According to the press release, each story will be rebuilt to be much more vibrant and colorful and highlight the content that your friends are sharing. Photos, news articles, maps and events all look brighter and more beautiful.

Several new feeds will be added in addition to the same News Feed you have today:

– All Friends – a feed that shows you everything your friends are sharing
– Photos – a feed with nothing but photos from your friends and the Pages you like
– Music – a feed with posts about the music you listen to
– Following – a feed with the latest news from the Pages you like and the people you follow

With the new re-design, Facebook will have the same look and feel, whether it’s web, tablet or mobile. It will be seamless experience for users to shift from one device to another.

In the coming weeks, the changes will be rolled out in web and mobile. You can register here to join the waiting list.

What this means for us?

There is no denying of the face that Facebook is an integral part of people’s lives these days.  The most prominent of the changes is the all-photo news feed which will appear by default as the first thing.  A picture speaks thousands of words and with the few minutes people have, watching pictures is a sure shot way to capture the most important stories for them.We believe that people will love the choice they are given in terms of the content they want to watch on their news feed.
