Enticing Upgrades from 4 Top Social Media Platforms

Upgrades on apps today are not just running with the times, but speeding ahead. To keep up with the new-fangled here is a list of upgrades introduced by top social media platforms this month.

LinkedIn

For those who can’t play a video on LinkedIn without the sound on can now have the option of adding closed captioning to their videos when posting from desktop. Another feature by the business and employment platform is highlighting a quote from a LinkedIn article on mobile and sharing it directly with the user’s network in the feed. Also, users can now save a draft of their post on mobile to visit it later. They just have to tap on the X at the top left of their post to view the option to save.

The job portal is also bringing down language barriers by adding a ‘see translation’ button on posts that are in a different language. The feature is available across mobiles and desktops. In addition, as a quick and easy way for users to access shared posts, articles written by them, or videos they have recorded, they have added a shortcut on desktop. The user just has to click on the “Me” tab to access the content they have shared on LinkedIn.

Smaller Players Appear in the Social Networking Arena

Facebook

According to Facebook, mobile-first creative ads have a 27% higher chance of pushing up brand image and 23% higher chance of driving message association in comparison to video ads that are not optimized for mobile.

Keeping those stats in mind and the fact that creating mobile video ads is not always easy, the Facebook Creative Shop team developed a framework to approach creating lightweight video ads from still image ads. They have built new video creation tools to enable advertisers to convert existing images and text assets into mobile-first video ads with ease.

Whether it is a six-second ad for promoting a product or a fifteen-second one for showing product benefits, FB’s Video Creation Kit can turn existing image and text assets into mobile-optimized videos framed in 1:1 for feed environments or 9:16 for stories on Facebook and Instagram.

Instagram

Instagram has come up with a feature that allows users to remove unwanted followers from their list without notifying the unfortunate/creepy. The photo and video-sharing social networking platform is testing a new feature with some public users on Android that allows them to manually remove people from their followers list without notifying them.

The ‘remove follower’ feature is only being introduced as an experiment and hence is only accessible to a chosen few public Instagram accounts on Android. The lucky users will see an icon with three vertical dots on the right of their user name. Tapping this icon will display a prompt to remove selected users from the user’ pool of followers.

Snapchat

Snapchat, in a development that is more an initiative than an upgrade, is partnering with four news discovery platforms to assist journalists in accessing better tools for uncovering Snap pictures and videos during breaking news.

The four news platforms are NewsWhip, Storyful, SAM Desk, and TagBoard, and news publications that subscribe to these tools will enjoy total access to every publicly-available Snap.
