{Cyber watch: AppSealing} Defender of fintech data and mobile apps

This global antipiracy company has come up with a platform that enables banks and fintech organizations in India and across the globe to secure their data and mobile apps.

What the pandemic started in 2020, still continues in 2021. Lockdowns are everywhere, and people are relying for most things on their mobile apps. COVID-19 has spurred the adoption of digital banking services.

New users are getting added by the minute and transactions are increasing. 2020 saw premier banks like State Bank of India pick up 70,000 users in a day through their app Yono. However, this kind of uptick also means that fraudulent activities are also seeing a major jump.

AppSealing, a venture of INKA Entworks, a globally recognized leader in antipiracy technology, is aiding in the digital security of Indian banks.

The Tech Panda spoke to Govindraj Basatwar, Head of Global Business for INKA Entworks, about how AppSealing is focusing on removing potential risks so that apps can function smoothly and securely.

Cybersecurity is our passion. We see great potential in helping companies with cost-effective, smart, time-saving, and robust security solutions

“Password vulnerabilities, authentication issues, easy-to-crack credentials and rising phishing attacks are some major issues that we work to fix almost on a day-to-day basis,” he says.

Their key feature is Runtime Application Self-Protection (RASP), which enables banks and fintech organizations in India and across the globe to secure their data and mobile apps in the most optimum fashion and protect them from hacking, manipulations, and attacks on servers, app codes, and networks.

“This ensures that organizations can go cashless and protect their apps in runtime anywhere, anytime,” he adds.

What They Do

Fintech industries are witnessing increasing instances of proxy app creation, data and code tampering, man-in-the-middle attacks and reverse engineering. AppSealing’s RASP solution provides a security seal to fintech companies and protects customer data and financial transactions.

Apart from fintech, INKA Entworks solutions and services can be found in several digital content distribution mediums from mobile games and applications to digital streaming, movies, music, and online education. AppSealing caters to sectors ranging from gaming, movies and IoT to O2O (Offline to Online), public apps, healthcare, ecommerce, and plenty of others.

“When it comes to the gaming industry, hackers have been increasingly creating copies of popular gaming apps to manipulate game data and exploit various stages of games to earn a quick buck without even playing,” says Basatwar, who is an avid gamer.

OTT platforms, which are seeing an impressive user base, have their own challenges of code manipulation, malwares, and data stealing. Basatwar explains that AppSealing can secure and encrypt SO files and DEX to ensure premium subscriptions continue to be accessed by the right parties and the brand image and revenue are intact.

Moreover, O2O has major issues in the form of loss of sensitive personal information that can be stopped through AppSealing’s security layers and RASP solutions, which track hacking attempts in real time.

Origin and Inspiration

INKA Entworks created AppSealing as a response to the rampant piracy and hacking threats that mobile gaming and application industries are facing.

“Cybersecurity is our passion. We see great potential in helping companies with cost-effective, smart, time-saving, and robust security solutions. Our experts believe in thoroughly understanding clients’ problems and doing deep-dive research to come up with the most relevant solutions,” says Basatwar.

“Earlier, developers had to research, build and test SDK security solutions to protect their mobile apps. With our affordable plug-and-play solution with no additional AMC, setup, or tech support charges, app security solution implementation becomes quicker and seamless. This ensures that developers can focus on enhancing products and features while AppSealing handles their security requirements with a 360-degree security approach,” he concludes.

Future Plans

Cybersecurity in fintech is a need that is only going to get bigger as millions continue to onboard fintech apps. Fintech organizations must remain on top of things if they want to avoid any cyber related incidents that cause distress to customers as well as embarrassment.

With emerging technology like AI and blockchain to become definite big players in cybersecurity, companies like INKA Entworks have a lot to offer even in the future.
